Hui Zeng is a Profeosser and Director of the Fundamental Nursing Department at Central South University (CSU). To cultivate nursing talents for elderly care in aging society, Dr. Zeng designed and developed Gerontological Nursing curriculum at CSU. She also developed MOOC and virtual simulation on gerontological nursing and compiled multiple versions of national textbook of gerontological nursing in Chinese and bilingual translations. She served as chief editor of a compiled textbook on gerontological nursing. Through the courses and books, she and her team have shared their ideas and teaching strategies, provided training for teachers and students in CSU and other universities in China. As a professional committee member of Psychology on Aging, Dr. Zeng has deployed many treatment strategies to help dementia patients. She and her team have developed some assessment tools and found multiple comprehensive non-pharmacy treatments to improve cognitive functions of the elderly or delay their deterioration. Her efforts have provided evidence to policies making for nurses’ roles in prevention dementia and care for the elderly with dementia. Previously, Dr. Zeng served as a health consultant in EU-HelpAge program, she led the training of village health practitioners and improved the quality of life of more than 3,000 poor, older adults.
Dr. Zeng received her MSN from Chiang Mai University, Thailand, and PhD from Central South University, China.
