Janet Wong is currently serving as Professor and Dean of Hong Kong Metropolitan University. Prior to her current role, she was the Chair of Teaching and Learning in The University of Hong Kong, providing leadership for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the School of Nursing. She led the teaching team to use technology in nursing education. In both 2020 and 2021, she was the recipient of the Teaching Innovation Award (Team) under the teaching excellence scheme by the University of Hong Kong.

As a nurse researcher, Dr. Wong’s work focuses on intimate partner violence prevention in both married and dating relationships. Her large-scale survey investigating dating violence in emerging adults enhanced her problem-solving skills and strengthened evidence-informed practice to meet the abused women’s needs. She developed an interactive computer-based sex education programme with the ultimate goal to reduce sexual violence and risky sexual behaviours. Dr. Wong pioneered a nurse-led brief personalized intervention for enhancing condom use by using instant messaging. Her scholarly work is also helpful for providing practical advice as Service Development Advisory Board Member of the Hong Kong Single Parents Association.

Dr. Wong holds a BN, MN and PhD from The University of Hong Kong.
