R. Lee Tyson is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Pysch-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Programs at the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing. He is also owner/CEO of Lee Side Wellness, a leading national NP-owned and operated practice. His organization employs PMHNPs, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, pharmacists, offering such services as telepsychiatry, pharmacogenomics, neuromodulation, and myriad psychotherapy modalities. He has consulted with numerous PMHNPs who have replicated his practice model in multiple Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)-led psychiatric organizations across the nation. He has made presentations and publications on a variety of topics, including nursing entrepreneurship and tele-mental health. He serves on the Mental Health Team of the University of Cincinnati Urban Health Pathway, is an Advisor on the Ohio Attorney General’s Healthcare Substance Use Disorder Interprofessional Educational Committee, and serves on the Ohio Board of Nursing APRN Advisory Committee, the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses Education Committee, and Chair of the ANCC PMHNP Content Expert Panel.
Dr. Tyson is an APRN holding dual doctorates in psychiatric nursing practice and theology. He is triple-boarded as a PMHNP, Adult NP, and Certified Addictions RN—Advanced Practice. He is a Fellow in the International Academy of Addictions Nursing and has extensive clinical involvement working with populations in myriad settings across Ohio and beyond.
