Kathy Simmonds is an Associate Professor at the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where she has served on the faculty since 2000, and the Coordinator of the Women's Health/Gender-Related NP Track since 2007.

Her clinical work and research has focused on reproductive health, including abortion, unwanted/mistimed pregnancy, and access to services. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the MGH Institute’s Center for Climate Change, Climate Justice, and Health. She has written numerous articles and textbook chapters and presented nationally on her areas of interest. Dr. Simmonds was a Jonas Scholar and a Jonas Health Policy Scholar, and a CoreAlign Generative Fellow. She was the recipient of the 2015 Nancy T. Watts Award for Excellence in Teaching at the MGH Institute, the 2018 Upsilon Lambda chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Inge Corless Research award, and in 2020 of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health, Inspiration in Women's Health-Research Award. In 2022, Dr. Simmonds will be joining the faculty of the Roux Institute at Northeastern University.
