Joyce Shea is Professor and Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at Fairfield University’s Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies in Connecticut.
Dr. Shea is a board-certified advanced practice psychiatric nurse (APRN) who has driven the development and expansion of the full range of services in integrated behavioral and physical health care. She has created two innovative and scalable education models to prepare advanced practice nurses to deliver evidence-based integrated care and telehealth care and formed a national coalition of HRSA-grantees that established an award-winning online telehealth education toolkit for nurse educators. Having served for 5 years as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, she recently co-chaired the national Task Force that revised the Scope and Standards of Practice for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing, significantly expanding the focus on integrated care and telehealth and forging a document that guides both practice and policy across the US. Dr. Shea has received over $6 million in HRSA funding, and is currently PI for a grant focusing on telehealth care and inter-professional practice.
Dr. Shea received her BSN from Fairfield University, and her MSN and DNSc from Yale University School of Nursing.
