Carmen Rodríguez is an Associate Professor at the University of South Florida College of Nursing. Through her clinical practice and research, she has advanced symptom science research and practice for improvement of health equity for cancer patients across the continuum of care.
Dr. Rodríguez is recognized for her research expertise in behavioral oncology and clinical trial intervention research for improving the quality of life and health equity of “suddenly speechless” critical care and advanced stage head and neck cancer survivors.
Over her career, Dr. Rodríguez has actively contributed to advance oncology nursing and psycho-oncology science through practice and service by integrating evidence to advance the quality of care for cancer patients, including Hispanic/Latino and disadvantaged populations. She has led her interdisciplinary team to design, build and evaluate an innovative Technology-Enhanced Communication Intervention (TECI) program, to assist patient “communication” for improvement of clinical outcomes.
Dr. Rodríguez earned her BSN from the University of Puerto Rico, her MSN form the University of Miami, and her PhD from the University of South Florida.
