Andrew Reimer is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Case Western Reserve University Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and is an experienced transport nurse on the Critical Care Transport team at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Reimer’s primary areas of research include developing front-end clinical information systems specific to medical transport and exploring the appropriate use of electronic health record data in research. His NIH funded program of research employs big data analytics with electronic health record data to identify factors that contribute to improved patient outcomes for patients undergoing interhospital transfer. His team is currently developing clinical decision support tools to facilitate patients and providers during the decision-making process to transfer and is also assessing ways to increase access to time sensitive critical care transport services for underserved rural populations. Dr. Reimer fosters education, training, and research as a committee member of the Air and Surface Transport Nurse Association Education Committee, as an editorial board member for the Journal of Emergency Nursing, and nursing informatics as a member of the Nursing Informatics Working Group of the American Medical Informatics Association.
Dr. Reimer earned his BSN and PhD from Case Western Reserve University where he also completed a post-doctoral training program in multidisciplinary clinical research.
