Ulrica Nilsson is a Professor of Nursing at Karolinska Institutet, in combination with clinical work as a nurse anesthetist at Karolinska University Hopsital in Stockholm, Sweden. Dr. Nilsson is a respected international and national scientist in the perioperative nursing field. She has developed, tested, and implemented a nurse-driven technology innovation that has highlighted the importance of assessing and supporting patients in their recovery process. Dr. Nilsson has contributed to novel scientific evidence about the patient’s perspective of their postoperative recovery and important factors such as health literacy, mental health, gender, cognition, and theory building about postoperative recovery. She has also explored, and evidence based perioperative nursing. Dr. Nilsson is responsible for the postgraduate education in anesthetic and postoperative care and leads the Perioperative care research group at Karolinska Insitutet. Dr. Nilsson holds an editorial board position at the Journal of PeriAnesthesia Nursing and serves on the International Collaboration of PeriAnaesthesia Nurses, Inc. (ICPAN) board as President.

Dr Nilsson received her PhD from Linkoping University and has an Associate Professor position in Perioperative Nursing at Orebro University.
