Michelle Munroe is the Chief Executive Officer for the Coastal Georgia Women's Foundation. Her professional focus is on maternal and infant mortality and access to care. This was one of the primary reasons Dr. Munroe ran for office as a candidate in the 1st Congressional District.
Dr. Munroe is an Army Nurse executive who recently retired after 28 years of active-duty service. In addition, she has held various executive leadership positions in both clinical and academic settings. She is a subject matter expert for patient safety with experience in implementing High-Reliability Organization principles in multiple hospitals throughout her career. As the Hospital Commander/Chief Executive Officer of Winn Army Community Hospital, she led the organization in implementing policies and procedures that kept 85,000 beneficiaries and 1,800 employees safe during the pandemic.
Since retirement, she has worked as a healthcare consultant providing expertise in evidence-based practice, project management, and women’s healthcare. She has been a mentor for the American Nurses Association and in multiple volunteer roles with the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
