Rear Admiral Aisha K. Mix is the Chief Nurse Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

In this capacity, RDML Mix provides guidance and advice to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Surgeon General, and the nation’s nursing community on prevention, public health, health systems development, and the role of the nursing workforce in achieving health and wellness in the country. Internationally, RDML Mix represents HHS to the World Health Assembly where she advises on nursing practice, education, and leadership as part of the International Council of Nurses Government Chief Nurse and Midwifery Officers.

As a board-certified National Healthcare Disaster Professional, RDML Mix leverages her knowledge and expertise in nursing workforce development to design and implement expanded nurse deployment roles during disasters, including case management, discharge planning, patient movement, human services, and disaster recovery operations. An experienced clinician, public health practitioner, educator, and emergency manager, RDML Mix has served as a consummate advocate for nurses, the nursing profession, and public health with a commitment to protecting, promoting, and advancing the health and safety of the nation.
