Leslie Miles is a Teaching Professor at Brigham Young University, designated court examiner for the State of Utah, and a mental health provider. Dr. Miles' primary research areas of impact are improving adult immunizations in the severely mentally ill population and providing new knowledge about sexual assault to inform and advocate for changes and practice improvement with key interdisciplinary stakeholders. Her expertise was vital to statewide policy changes to improve evidence-based therapy access for sexual assault victims and improve sexual assault kit submission rates. Dr. Miles collaborated to develop recommendations for competency to consent for a forensic exam with persons presenting with psychiatric symptoms to ensure civil rights protection and appropriate ethical patient care. She is committed to reducing mental health disparities and improving the lives of those who experience sexual violence or stigmatization by working on collaborative solutions to complex challenges for persons with mental illness and those who experience sexual trauma on local, national, and international levels.

Dr. Miles earned her DNP from Rush University, a MS from the University of Utah, and a BSN from Brigham Young University.
