Dawndra Jones is the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and Vice President of Patient Care Services of UPMC-Magee Womens Hospital, a world-class center for both women’s health and comprehensive medical-surgical care. Magee’s Women Care Birth Center delivers over 10,000 babies and treats more than 1,500 critically ill infants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit annually. Previously, Dr. Jones served as CNO of UPMC East and UPMC McKeesport Hospitals and is responsible for opening Allegheny County’s first hospital-based inpatient addiction medicine detox/rehabilitation unit at UPMC McKeesport. She is a national speaker sharing the impact of her leadership which includes development of a nurse manager scope and span of control tool, health advocacy topics encompassing population health, health equity and diversity and inclusion in the nursing workforce. Dr. Jones serves on several community organizations board of directors, the FDA Peripheral and Central Nervous System Advisory Committee, and Pittsburgh Black Nurses in Action (PBNIA), the local chapter of the National Black Nurses Association, where she is the founder of the PBNIA Future Nurses Academy.
Dr. Jones holds a DNP in nursing administration from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, BSN and MSN from Carlow University and Nurse Executive certification from the American Nurse Credentialing Center.
