Dwayne Hooks is Executive Associate Dean and Professor of Nursing at Augusta University (AU)College of Nursing. He has responsibility for the Center for Strategic Initiatives, AU Nursing Associates, the Nurse-Managed Health Center, and key academic-practice partnerships.

Dr. Hooks' scholarly work focuses on creating innovative patient care models in a variety of clinical settings utilizing nurses at the highest levels of education, experience, and licensure. Dr. Hooks is the current recipient of a Health Resources and Services Administration grant aimed at increasing the use of registered nurses in primary care environments with special attention on rural and underserved communities. Dr. Hooks also serves as the Clinical Director of a HRSA-funded integrated behavioral health program and has deployed telehealth workstations in select public schools in three counties. Hisaim has been to increase access for Georgia citizens utilizing advanced telehealth technologies.

Dr. Hooks serves on the Board of Directors for the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties and presents locally, nationally, and internationally. He completed his PhD in Nursing at the University of Kansas, BSN and MN at the Medical College of Georgia, and a graduate certificate as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at The George Washington University.
