Raymond (Ray) Chan is Matthew Flinders Professor of Cancer Nursing and Director for the Caring Futures Institute at Flinders University. He is a current National Health and Medical Research Council Investigator Fellow through 2025. Dr. Chan’s research program focuses on optimizing models of care and health services’ responses to address the needs of people affected by cancer. Dr. Chan has published more than 180 peer-reviewed articles and 2 book chapters. In 2009, his contribution to nursing practice, education, and research was recognised with the award as Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing Australia, now known as the Australian College of Nursing. In 2021, he was inducted to the Sigma Theta Tau International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame.
Dr. Chan serves as an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Cancer Survivorship; Cancer Nursing: An International Journal of Cancer Care, Cancer Care Research Online, European Journal of Oncology Nursing, and Asia Pacific Journal of Oncology Nursing (APJON). He is regularly invited as a keynote or podium speaker at a number of prestigious institutions, as well as national and international conferences.
