Laura Bonanno is the Program Administrator at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing and has held that position since 2007.
Dr. Bonanno has been a practicing CRNA for 27 years and a RN for 35 years. She has held several key national and state leadership positions. She is currently serving as an educator director on the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) and has served two years as President and three years as Vice-President of the COA. Dr. Bonanno is on the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Faculty Stabilization Task Force and has served on numerous other AANA committees and task forces. Dr. Bonanno served two consecutive four-year terms (2013-2021) on the Louisiana State Board of Nursing – four years as Vice-President and two years as President. She served two terms as President of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Anesthetists (1998 and 2001).
Dr. Bonanno earned a PhD in Higher Educational Administration from the University of New Orleans (2019), a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Tennessee Memphis (2008), and a Master of Science degree in Nurse Anesthesia from the Charity Hospital Xavier University School of Nurse Anesthesia (1995).
