Alyce Ashcraft is the Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (HSC) School of Nursing (SON). Dr. Ashcraft leads research activities in the SON and serves as an interprofessional member of multiple HSC Research Councils. Under her leadership, SON faculty publications, programmatic and grant submissions, as well as interprofessional collaboration has significantly increased. In addition, she led efforts to obtain a generous endowment to fund faculty development sabbaticals. Dr. Ashcraft has served as President of the Texas Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Texas League for Nursing and is currently President of the National Hartford Center for Gerontological Excellence. During her terms, collaboration with policy making bodies was a priority. The HSC interdisciplinary research team led by Dr. Ashcraft has developed an app (NudgeLTCTM) to enhance communication between nursing home licensed vocational nurses and primary care clinicians. Its purpose is to bridge education and distance as well as improve the provision of care for nursing home residents living in underserved areas.

Dr. Ashcraft received her BSN from Texas Woman’s University, MSN from the University of Texas at Arlington, PhD from The University of Texas at Austin, and Post-Masters Certificate in Advanced Practice Gerontology from Oregon Health and Science University.
