Azita Amiriis an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, College of Nursing. She serves as a board member of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments (ANHE). She is a US citizen born in Iran, where she received her bachelor's and masters in Midwifery. During her time in Iran, she served in rural areas as a midwife. Her research projects were supported by the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office of the World Health Organization.

Dr. Amiri is a nurse researcher interested in public health, environmental health, and environmental justice. Her research portfolio includes studying the health challenges of disadvantaged communities in Alabama, the use of drones in telehealth and nursing education, indoor air pollution, and nurses' occupational exposures. In 2018, she was awarded the Outstanding Advocate of the Year award by the Alabama State Nurses Association for her community engagement work with the state's environmental justice communities. She graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with her BSN, MSN, and Ph.D. in Nursing. In 2020, she became a Bloomberg Fellow at the Bloomberg American Health Initiative.
