Sumaya Mohamed AlBlooshi is the Head of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Committee for Nursing and Midwifery Affairs, Director of Nursing in Emirates Health Services and President of the Emirates Nursing Association.
Dr. AlBlooshi is one of the key influential nursing leaders, leading the National Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery and directing around 5,000 nurses in Emirates Health Services. She is a member of many international, regional and national committees. Throughout her leadership, she has communicated a strong vision and successfully launched the UAE 5-Year Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery with national, regional and international partnership and stakeholders’ involvement. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Gulf Medical University and been appointed as Associate Dean of Academic Partnerships at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. AlBlooshi played a major role as member of the UAE central health system response committee through efficient management of the nursing workforce, surge planning and activation, nurse well-being, nursing competency development and upskilling, resources management and constant knowledge, guidelines and protocols development, review and communication.
Dr. AlBlooshi holds a PhD in Nursing Philosophy from Jordan University, MS in Critical Care Nursing and another in Quality Management along with BSN from University of Sharjah.
