Bimbola Akintade is a Professor and Dean of the East Carolina University College of Nursing.
Dr. Akintade is a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, pioneer Board Member and Research Committee Chair of Doctors of Nursing Practice of Color, former Commissioner on the Maryland Healthcare Commission, founder of Health For Nigeria (a non-profit organization), and pioneer Faculty Mentor for the American Association of Men in Nursing Maryland Chapter. His service-focused contributions have improved health equity and strengthened nursing capacity nationally and globally by sustaining leadership in state and national organizations that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion; mentoring underrepresented nurses to maximize their potential professionally; and strengthening nursing capacity globally by developing a public health model that creates access to primary health care for high school students, teachers, staff, and members of rural communities. In addition, he is leading the development of advanced practice curricula to improve nursing education and clinical practice to rebuild health system capacity for primary and public health in Nigeria.

Dr. Akintade earned his BSN, MS, and PhD from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. In addition, he earned his MBA and MHA from the University of Maryland University College.
